Which Martial Art Experts Inspire You?
On this page of our site
- We tell you about the martial art experts we've trained with.
- We discuss what we think makes someone an expert in martial arts.
- And You can tell us about the fantastic experts that inspire and motivate you.
If you ask people why they started training in martial arts a fair number of them will say they were inspired by legends like Bruce Lee.
For us- like many who start as adults- we began our taekwondo journey by accident through following our daughter.
And once we started kicking we found a whole new world opened up to us.
We still can't believe how lucky we are! We have been taught by some incredible martial art experts.
In our teachers we see jaw-dropping physical skill and enviable mental strength.
In Korea we trained with Master Park Kil-Jun- an awesome athlete with an unbelievable knowledge of tkd, hapkido and the human body.
Leah felt a bit nervous as he flew over her head- but she had nothing to fear of course!
And Master Yong-Nam Kim- 7th Dan Taekwondo. 1st class Korean Yoga instructor. Korean Zen Master and 1st class chiropractor.
Wow!
Our current Master is Jason Smith at Spirit Taekwondo.
Master Jason is a fantastic athlete and motivating teacher. He has a vast knowledge of taekwondo, hapkido and self defense and he inspires us as we continue our journey in Australia.
What do we think makes someone a martial arts expert?
First up...
... time.
All the experts we mention on this page have trained continually for decades.
They have each devoted a massive part of their lives to martial arts and their students.
And during that time they have each
- Amassed an incredible knowledge of their chosen arts and the human body.
- Mastered amazing physical skills.
- And built enviable mental strength.
But for us the most defining thing of all...
... is the humility these martial art experts show.
Despite their incredible ability they all showed us massive respect and passed their knowledge on freely.
This is a great lesson for us as we travel along the road behind them.
Here's someone else who might inspire you.
Geoff Thompson's story of nightclub bouncer turned martial artist then writer is inspirational.
Sign up for Geoff's ezine and you get a great free e-book 'The art of fighting without fighting.' An intriguing title for a great book!
And now it's your turn!
