I am currently a white belt. I just started taking lessons a little over a month ago. I have really been enjoying the physical and mental aspects of Taekwondo, which have also been the hardest parts. It takes a long time to get up to par with the abilities of the other students.

Our belt system goes:

White belt
White belt with Yellow stripe
Yellow belt
Yellow belt with blue stripe
Blue Belt
Blue Belt with Purple stripe
Purple Belt
Purple Belt with Brown stripe
Brown Belt
Brown Belt with Black stripe
Black Belt

Nicholas,

I remember well my white belt days, and still think my advance to yellow belt was the most exciting. Don't concern yourself about the abilities of other students, just work on the what you are learning from your master. You will see your skills improve faster than you imagined.

Work on your stretching 5 to 7 days a week, and you will see results. The more flexible you make yourself, the better your body will perform.
