Learning Your Taekwondo Patterns?

Here's help with Ki Cho E Bu

(Basic Pattern 2)

On this page we show a video of Ki-Cho 2 so you can learn each move.

Below are written instructions so you understand each technique.

Ki Cho 2 is really easy if you already know Ki Cho 1. You go the exact same directions using the H pattern and the same stances. You only change hand tequniques - easy!

The masters always say "there is no Taekwondo without forms" so take care in doing each tequnique as precisely as you can.

You will use these basic techniques all the way to black belt in your self defense and sparring but they have to be done right to work!

Here are instructions for Ki Cho II Bu (Basic Pattern 2) from Choom bi (ready position).
Ki Cho has 20 motions...

1st Position - Swivel 90' to your left, pivoting on right foot and sliding left foot one step forward assuming front stance. Remember to put 60 percent of your weight on your front foot with bent knee and keep back leg locked.

Simultaneously execute a low block with left forearm. Make sure to cross forearm in front of chest , left fist palm near right ear and right fist palm down under under left elbow. Then sweep left forearm downward, across abdomen and groin, into position with left fist above left knee and simultaneously pull right fist back to right hip. Snap both wrists around at the instant of completing the motion so that left fist is palm down over knee and right fist is palm up at hip. The blocking surface is the outer edge of the lower left forearm.

2nd Position - Slide right foot forward one step and assume front stance

Simultaneously execute a high punch with right fist. Remember to thrust right fist to arm's length at nose level and simultaneously pull left fist back to hip. Snap both wrists around at last instant of action so that right fist is palm down and left fist is palm up.

3rd Position - Pivoting on left foot, slide right foot out and back in a wide arc, turning 180' and assume front stance. Simultaneously execute a low block with right forearm.

4th Position - Slide left foot forward one step and assume front stance. Simultaneously execute a high punch with left fist.

5th Position - Pivoting on right foot, slide left foot out, turning 90' and assume front stance. Simultaneously execute a low block with left forearm

6th Position - Slide right foot forward one step and assume front stance - Simultaneously execute a high block with right arm

7th Position - Slide left foot forward one step and assume front stance - Simultaneously execute a high block with right arm
