Grand Master Robert Hardin
by VT
Grand Master Robert Hardin lives in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas with his wife Alison Hardin (who is a 6th degree).
They founded the Choong Sil Taekwondo Federation which has many schools in the southern United States.
His specific TKD style, Choong Sil means "Constant and Never Ending Improvement". In addition to the traditional Chang Han patterns of the ITF, Choong Sil Kwan students learn four additional patterns Song-Song, Yong-Gom, Hyun Sil and Sil Hyun.
The point of these patterns is to develop a deeper practice of martial arts that helps develop the whole person to their maximum potential. The Choong Sil Kwan patterns, interpret to mean: Imagination, Inspiration, Actualization, and Realization. Literally living and breathing a cycle of self improvement toward SELF- REALIZATION.
I Met GM Hardin and his wife as a Jr Green belt. Having spent about a year in taekwondo, I was quickly losing interest, convinced that TKD in America had fallen victim to the "belt factory" mentality. My first meeting with these inspiring people, I learned that there is INDEED much to learn about TKD, and much to learn about MYSELF.
I fell in love with the absolute precision, absolute mind/body activity of each component of TKD.
Grand Master Hardin and his wife are truly amazing people. They inspire everyone around them to be their best version of themselves at all times. They are selfless in their teachings, selfless in their time, and are a living, breathing example of the TKD spirit in action.
